Guten tag, Germany – we’re off to WindEnergy Hamburg next week (24-27 September).
Billed as the world’s biggest and most important wind business platform for exchanging news and views, building networks and closing major deals, the event attracts 1,600 exhibiting companies from 40 countries.
There are 27 national pavilions – you’ll find us on the SDI one – and they expect to welcome around 40,000 attendees from 100 countries.
Our managing director Wayne Henderson will be at the event and said: “Wind energy is one of the most competitive technologies for improving global energy security.
“Four years ago, 95% of our business was in oil and gas in the North Sea. It is now 60% oil and gas and 40% renewables.
“Our work with some of the major players – including ScottishPower Renewables and Jan De Nul – supports the efficient, safe and successful operation of windfarm developments, as it brings our risk-focused approach - developed over 25 years in offshore operations - to projects.
“A robust global supply chain is essential for wind energy to realise its full potential. Without a robust supply chain, the targets for net zero emissions in this decade are unachievable.”
As the ongoing demand for onshore wind energy plants continues, requirements and regulations for plants are getting stricter, whether in extreme climatic regions or in low-wind-speed areas. The industry is now developing onshore plants that are tailored to specific situations and repowering – the replacement of old plants by new, more efficient ones – is advancing steadily.
At WindEnergy Hamburg, the industry is firmly demonstrating its innovative strengths – working to ensure sustainable growth and create added value.
